MY X-MEN 2 REVIEW.
(third viewing.)
This movie just keeps getting better and better!!
I can't believe it. I've seen X2 three times in
six days! I've never done that before! I have to be stopped. There has to be
12-step-program for this!
Just goes to show how much I loved the movie. And
the fact that there absolutely must be an X-Men 3! Bryan Singer said it depended
on the opening weekend, we'll they're nr.1. X3 is coming. YAY!
Now, I've reviewed the movie twice, and thought
I'd write a little more about the various characters and mention some of the
cameos, sp here goes:
- Wolverine.
- I loved Wolverine in this movie, but
then again he is my favorite. The back story was great, and I was jumping up
and down in my seat during his fight sequences! They rocked!!! I so hope he
gets to kick more ass in the third movie. :)
- I have to admit that the whole
Jean-Logan "relationship" kind of bugs me, but I think they solved
it in a good way with this movie.
- It was also nice to see more off
Wolverine's internal struggle, his longing to find out about his past, and
the small flashbacks we get to see are superb.
-
- Professor X.
- I feel that professor X gets the same
kind of treatment as in the first movie. It's like Singer & co are
afraid to show his potential. Xavier has a very important role in this
movie, but I hope that X3 will give him more room to evolve. Now, I know
that he's evolved as he's gonna get, but I'd like him to be more in the
movie.
-
- Magneto
- I've said it before and I'll say it again, it
was a pleasure to se a different side of Magneto. We get to see more of the relationship
between him and Xavier, and see that there is a weird form of friendship and
respect there. Though this gets a little crush toward the end of the movie.
(I won't give to much away, but I have to say that I understand his motives,
as I did in the first.)
-
- Storm
- I really think Halle did a good job
here. It was so nice to see more of Storm in this movie. In my opinion she's
changed a bit from the comics, but it works.
- I think we get to know her a lot
better in this movie. In the first one I kind of felt that she was just in
it to fill a quota. But here we get to see her use her powers more and get
more of a feel of how she is as a person.
-
- Dr. Jean Grey
- All I have to say about Jean is that
I had a theory going after the first film, and I was right! :)
- She seems a bit weaker in this movie,
less surten of her powers, but that builds up, and comes to a pretty exiting
resolution. But you get small hits off it through the movie, so enjoy. :) I
won't say anymore.
-
- Cyclops
- Sadly, Cyclops'
part is very small, which is quite sad. I was looking forward to seeing more
of him, but no. My friend, who is a Cyclops fan, didn't mind, because she
loved the movie anyway. His absence is explained in a good way, so it works.
- I really liked him in this movie, and it was
fun to see his fighting scenes as well.
-
- Mystique
- Mystique has a much bigger part in
this movie, and I loved it. We get to see what she's worth, and it's nice to
see that the 8 hours in the make up chair was worth something, and that she
gets some time in focus.
-
- Rogue
- Rogue has become more confident since
the last time we saw her, and her relationship with Bobby seems to play a
part in that. It was nice to see her like that, she's takes more control and
seems to be thriving.
- She's not as active as in the first film, here
we get to see more of her relationship with Bobby, and how she copes with
not being able to touch or kiss him.
-
- Nightcrawler
- I loved Nightcrawler! He's so sweet and
endearing. And seems to have a little crush on all the women he meets during
the film, which is a nice little trait. Some may see him as the comic-relief
in this film, but he does bring more to the movie, and that's faith. Now,
being an atheist I usually hate this in movies, but here it was so well
done, and I could understand why he believed.
- And his powers are very well done in this
movie. There is a sequence where we get to see him go BAMF at least ten
times during a short time, and it is incredible.
-
- General William Stryker
- Now, here's the guy we love to hate. The man
that totally pissed me off! I so wanted Wolverine to slice and dice this
guy, but after seeing the movie three times, I do get his motivation for
doing what he does. And I can't say I blame him. But I still wanted some
serious pain to be inflicted on the guy, because there are better ways to
deal with your problems.
- As I've said before I rarely hope that the
"bad guy" will die a horrible death, but I seriously wanted
Stryker dead. Which is the trademark of a great villain.
-
- Lady Deathstrike
- Lady Deathstrike has been totally altered from
comics, so be warned. Still, I really liked this character. She's ruthless
and she's not afraid to beat the crap out of anyone.
- She does have a habit that you might find
annoying, but I actually think it ads to her character.
- Now in the comics, she's a cyborg, but in the
movie she's a mutant. And it works, because bringing a cyborg into the film
would need explaining, and I doubt that the audience would have had the
patience for that.
- Her claws rock, but I do have to say that
Wolverine's claws seem more practical. :p
-
- Iceman
- Bobby is very sweet in this movie,
but there is a funny scene (if you pay attention), where he tries to show
off to Wolverine. We also get to see him with his family, and that is
actually a very good scene. You get to see how his parents react to the fact
that he's a mutant, and I don't doubt that most parents would be shocked.
- Now we've seen in the trailer that
his mother says; "Have you tried not being a mutant?" This totally
pissed me off, I wanted to jump into the screen and slap some sense into
her.
- I really like that Bobby's role is
bigger in this movie, and that we get a teen-perspective of the whole
thing.
-
- Pyro
- Pyro was great, we got to see another
side to the "being a teenage mutant" side. I do understand why the
original actor form the first movie was replaced. Aaron has more of a
bad-boy look going for him, Alex looked a little to nice for the part.
- Pyro has a great scene were we get to
see what he can do with his powers, and it is one of my favorites in the
movie.
Cameos
Colossus has a brief cameo, but we get
to see what he's good for. I hope he might get a bigger part in X3.
Siryn is also shown for a little while,
and it's impossible to mistake her for anyone else. Believe me.
Jubilee's role is not much bigger than
in the first, and I can't understand why they replaced the girl that played her
in the first movie.
Kitty Pryde has also been replaced, and
I don't understand why with her either. She's shown for about half a minute, so
they could have kept the original. But at least we got to see what her powers
are good for.
Hank McCoy is briefly shown on a
television screen. No blue fur, but trust me, you can't miss him.
Gambit's name is shown on a computer
screen, but the cameo that was hot has been removed from the film. And I think
that's a good idea. I want Gambit to be introduced properly.
Omega Red is also seen on a computer
screen, maybe some hints for the future?
If you pay attention you can catch a
glimpse of Bryan Singer as one of the guards in Magneto's prison. It is in a
scene where Cyclops and Professor X come to visit Magneto. Just pay attention if
you want to see him.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW!!! COME ON!!!
HURRY UP!!!
